How the deal changed

I ordered on August 12. Before delivery, a higher price appeared. Then the number of free minutes changed. Support said things that did not match Omi’s pages, and Omi refunded the whole order. Here is what happened, one record at a time.

01

The Help Center shows the old deal

This is the Help Center version I remember seeing when I bought the hardware. It shows 1,200 Basic minutes, $199 a year for Unlimited, and $19 a month for Unlimited. The screenshot does not prove when I took it.

I place Order #21308

I pay $203.99 for the Omi device, developer kit, and shipping after reading Omi pages that advertised $199 a year and 1,200 free minutes.

03

The app shows $269.91

The hardware has not arrived yet. The one-year Unlimited price in the app is $69.92 higher than the price support puts in writing that same day.

Support confirms $199.99 anyway

Omi support writes that Unlimited costs $19.99 monthly or $199.99 when paid annually.

I demand an explanation

I ask Omi why the app price does not match the price and free minutes on its own pages.

A live Discord meeting raises the stakes

During Omi’s weekly Discord community meeting from 4 to 5 p.m., I challenged the price increase. I remember Nik Shevchenko saying aloud that the new price was still lower than he wanted. I also remember him mentioning a price near $40 a month. I did not record the meeting. Other people attending could hear the discussion and may be able to confirm what they heard.

I call what I think is support

ChatGPT gave me the number. A later public-record search made me think I may have reached COO Aarav Garg, but the person never identified himself and I cannot verify who answered.

Support refuses the 1,200 free minutes

Omi says no plan offers 1,200 minutes each month. My choices are to pay the app price or take a refund.

The checkout screen has no agreement box

The saved payment screen shows Pay now and policy links at the bottom. It does not show an I agree checkbox or another clear way to accept the rules.

The Help Center now says 300

A later screenshot of the same page says Updated today. Basic drops to 300 minutes, and a Plus plan with 1,500 minutes appears. The screenshot does not show why Omi made the change.

Pennsylvania receives my complaint

The Attorney General’s office says it received my complaint and is reviewing it. This does not mean the office agrees with me or found that Omi did anything wrong.

The web app still says 1,200

The Help Center says 300 and support says 1,200 is not available. But my Omi web account still shows a 1,200-minute Basic limit.

Omi admits its information does not match

Support takes back the $199.99 price, says the app has the correct price, and sends the pages that do not match to the team.

Omi cancels and refunds everything

Omi refunds the full $203.99 order and says I do not have to return the hardware already on its way.

The refund notice lands

Omi’s automated email records the $203.99 refund and marks both items as refunded.

One bank entry is still unclear

A pending $203.99 bank entry appears after the refund messages. I do not yet know whether it is the refund or something else.
